Primary Business: Ihara Chemical is primarily engaged in agricultural as well as fine chemical business activities. In the agricultural chemicals business, the Company manufactures and sells the active ingredients and agricultural chemicals. In the fine chemicals business, the Company manufactures and sells pharmaceutical-chemical organic intermediates as well as amines for urethane curing agents and deodorants.

Nov 1965 Company established with paid-in capital of ¥30 million with equity contributions from Ihara Agrochemical Co., Ltd. (currently Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.) and Nippon Soda Co., Ltd.
May 1966 Completion of Shizuoka Plant, and facilities for active ingredient synthesis of rice blast controlling agent KITAZIN
Apr 1968 Awarded the 14th Okochi Memorial Technology Prize for KITAZIN synthesis technology, and a core process of phosphite continuous synthesis technology
Nov 1968 Commencement of production and marketing of urethane curing agent CUAMINE M
Oct 1970 Completion of active ingredient synthesis facilities for rice-field herbicide SATURN
Mar 1973 Awarded the 19th Okochi Memorial Technology Prize and the Chemical Society of Japan Technology Prize for discovery of the herbicide SATURN as well as the development of its production method
Jun 1973 Completion of the chlorotoluene compound production facility (a chlorination facility)
Jul 1974 The Company’s shares listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange

Dec 1980 K-I Chemical Research Institute Co., Ltd. established as a joint-venture company with equity contributions from the Company and Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. The company was established as a part of efforts to develop new pesticides.
Jun 1985 Completion of pharmaceutical intermediate production facility
Sep 1990 Completion of production facility boasting multi-purpose equipment
Dec 1995 The Company acquired ISO 9002, the international standard for quality management systems
Apr 1997 Completion of an active ingredient production facility. The facility engages in the production of STAPLE, a cotton herbicide, and other products.
Apr 1999 The Company acquired ISO 14001, the international standard for environment management systems
Dec 2002 The Company completed the transition to ISO 9001:2000, the international standard for quality management systems
Jun 2006 Completion of a liquid waste incineration facility
Nov 2006 The Shanghai Representative Office established in China
